Step onto the birthplace of our National Parks.
Kinder Scout is where ordinary people challenged access laws in 1932.
That mass trespass helped shape the future of public access in the UK.
Now it’s your turn to take a stand. Not against landowners. But for families who need support.
Walk with purpose.

Costs

• £25 registration fee
• Fundraising is welcome but not compulsory

When you register to fundraise for The Luca Foundation, you receive a full fundraising pack to help you hit your target fast.

The Route

Starting in Edale, Derbyshire, we follow part of the Pennine Way via Jacob’s Ladder.
You’ll experience:

• Kinder Low trig point
• Kinder Downfall, the highest waterfall in the Peak District
• Gritstone edges along the plateau
• Big open views across the Dark Peak
  

Lunch will come with a view.
We then loop around the plateau edge before descending back into Edale.

On the Day

Grade: Medium
Distance: 12.5 miles
Duration: 6–7 hours
Total ascent: 735 metres
Start and finish: Edale
Guides: Experienced walkers with First Aid certification
This is a solid day in the hills.
Expect rocky, uneven paths and a sustained climb of around 3.7 miles.
Training for something bigger?
This is great preparation for Scafell Pike.

When You Register

Food and Water

There are no refill stops on the route.
Bring:

• 2–3 litres of water
• Plenty of food
• High-energy snacks

Fuel well.
This is a long day.

Weather

UK weather changes fast.
Bring layers.
Bring waterproofs.
Events are weather dependent.
Leaders will make safety decisions on the day if needed.
You’ll receive updates before the event.

Clothing:

• Waterproof jacket
• Insulating mid-layer
• Breathable base layer
• Walking trousers
• Waterproof over-trousers
• Hat and gloves
• Sun hat

Footwear:

• Comfortable walking boots or shoes
• Proper walking socks

Rucksack essentials:

• First aid kit
• Fully charged phone
• Suncream and sunglasses
• Blister care
• Water
• Snacks
• Spare warm layer
• Personal medication
• Emergency contact details

No denim.
No cotton T-shirts.

Parking and Facilities

There are three car parks in Edale:
Main Car Park – S33 7ZP – £6.00
Train Station Car Park – S33 7ZN – £2.50
Overspill parking – £5.00

Arrive early.
They fill quickly.

Toilets are available at the main car park.
There’s also a pub and café in Edale for post-walk food.
